Apple Dumplin's

An apple a day....keeps the doctor away.

What a great quote from the 19th century. It sounds like a good deal. I'd take it. But then I'd also smother that apple with cinnamon, or chocolate. Or put it in a pie. Or stuff it in some pork. There's no limit to what you can do with apples.

This recipe is my go-to when company comes over. It's easy, but it's not shy on flavor. It looks like you took hours to make it, and will have your guests oo-ing over the sugary crunch and soft warm cinnamon apples inside.

Do I have your attention?

Let's get going.

Ingredients:

2 whole granny smith apples, peeled and cored
2 cans crescent rolls (or make your own!)
2 sticks butter
3/4 cups white sugar
3/4 cups brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon, more for sprinkling on top
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1+ 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp cloves
12 oz Mountain Dew/Sprite/7-Up or similar soda

Method To The Madness:
1. Preheat oven to 350
2.. Slice apples into 8 equal slices each.
3. Roll each slice in a crescent roll.
4. Place in 13x9 pan.
5. Melt the butter.
6. Stir the butter, sugars, vanilla and spices together. Pour over rolled apples.
7. Pour the soda inbetween rolled apples, and on the outsides of the pan. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon, with enough to lightly cover all rolled apples.
8. Bake for 40 minutes.
9. Top with ice cream, warm liquor, or eat it as is. It's to die for.
